THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE
“Before
I had Bowen I was in so much pain every day due to arthritis in
my hip, thought I would no longer be able to have dogs, as walking
was so painful. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be able
to walk my dogs with no pain in my hips. Bowen is really wonderful.
I have even been to Pilates and I was amazed at what I could do.
Thank you so much.”

Bowen Therapy is a non-invasive holistic therapy (which
can be done through light clothing) targeting specific muscles and
tendons throughout the body, these gentle muscle moves send a vibration
to neighbouring muscles and the nervous system, thus instructing
the brain to perform its own healing by re-aligning the body, thereby
allowing normal function to resume.
The therapist performs certain moves, these are interspersed
with a period of rest. This allows the brain to take in the information
given and starts the healing process.
A treatment will take approximately 45 minutes. Initially
a course of 2 - 3 sessions is advised, after which top-up treatments
every 1- 3 months, help to keep the body in balance with itself.
Athletes and long term injuries/illness and pregnant women can be
treated weekly.
After a Bowen treatment it is advisable to give yourself
2 - 4 days of lighter work load (try to avoid strenuous housework,
gardening, lifting and exercise) this allows your body to re-adjust.
Although it is recommended that the average adult drinks 1.5 - 2ltrs
of water a day, after a Bowen this is most important as it acts
as a detox and the water helps to flush out any toxin build up,
moderate exercise also helps remove the toxins from muscles and
organs.
Apart from targeting specific problems, Bowen is a
wonderful means of stress relief, giving a great sense of wellbeing
and relaxation. It also promotes lymphatic drainage, helping to
flush the systems of toxins.
Bowen can safely be performed on men, women and children
of all ages.
